Join Friends of the Newton Public Library

Friends of the Library is a nonprofit advocacy organization which supports the Library. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library, its patrons, and the community.

The Friends of the Newton Public Library is an organization of volunteers who have enriched many lives in Newton through their contributions of time, money, and effort.

Friends have purchased equipment and materials to enhance the Library's collections and services, and Friends continue to donate many hours of their time for library sponsored functions and programs.

Here are just a few of the many worthwhile projects the Friends have supported this year.

  • Begin With Books: Friends create complimentary packets for mothers of newborns at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
  • Children and Adult Summer Reading activities: Friends donate their time to help with library programs held in conjunction with summer reading programs and their monetary gifts provide prizes for participants in the library's summer reading programs.

  • Adult Programs: Friends assist library staff by providing refreshments and volunteers for adult programs throughout the year.
